German Sparkassenstiftung Eastern Africa (DSIK) is built around the vision to improve lives in Eastern Africa by sustainably promoting financial inclusion. Together, we devote day by day to achieve this rewarding vision. With us, you will join challenging projects that support leading financial and governmental institutions in serving the Eastern African community with a lasting impact. Our diverse teams are based across the five project countries we are currently working in: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania.
At DSIK Eastern Africa the voice of every employee is valued. In our flat hierarchy, the opinion of every team member is of importance, from Country Director to Junior Consultant. We have fostered an environment where all employees are able to articulate their ideas and give valuable input into projects, from the moment you enter the organization. The trust and collaboration running through DSIK Eastern Africa trickles down to our Junior Consultants as well: They are able to shape tasks and take on full responsibilities in their own projects.
People working at DSIK Eastern Africa enjoy a highly autonomous working environment. Our teams consist of people who take ownership and responsibility for their work and, most importantly, keep their word and deliver on their tasks. Nevertheless, we are all human and failing is part of the journey. That's why we welcome mistakes and seek to learn from each other. Our open feedback culture allows us to embrace our true selves at work, understand each other and build teams that thrive.
Usually, we start our week at the office with a coffee together over some weekend chit-chat, planning and announcements for the week. For lunch break we sit together at the canteen and sometimes keep discussing challenging topics we are working on. And, we don’t just say goodbye at the end of the working day. On Fridays, some of our colleagues go out for team sports and have fun together apart from office work. Additionally, we believe that celebrating is also part of our team building: We save for team trips, have team dinners together and also love celebrating birthdays: Our online group is filled with heart-warming messages once a colleage is reaching a new age.
