ESG Risk Radar and Sustainable Finance Compass
We support our partners identify and address ESG and climate-related risks to promote sustainable finance
The Sustainable Finance Compass and ESG Risk Radar are two tools that are being offered by German Sparkassenstiftung to strengthen the ability of financial institutions to identify and manage ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and climate-related risks while also building strategies and systems for sustainable finance integration. It begins with systematic stocktaking and status-quo analysis, supporting project planning, progress monitoring, and benchmarking efforts. The tools are used to evaluate the institution across four core dimensions: Strategy and Management, Business Operations, Core Business and Communications.
The two tools have been introduced in Tanzania so far with one SACCOS member of our partner SCCULT (Savings and Credit Cooperative Union League of Tanzania), and moving forward, they shall be implemented within additional institutions across the region. This is part of our broader effort to strengthen the capacities of Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) and Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) through our strong partnerships with the umbrella organizations that represent and support these institutions.
Additional information about the tools can be found on our HQ’s webpage.
